Iffley Road from the air
Track!!!! Iffley Road Sports Centre is a central hub for sports clubs in Oxford (not just OUCCC) and has all sorts of facilities including the hockey and football pitches, a swimming pool, gym and most importantly for us… the track! Iffley is a little way outside of the city centre, just passed Cowley roundabout and is a 10-15min jog from most central colleges. We usually train here on Wednesday evenings throughout the year as well as Wednesday lunches during Trinity Term (summer track season) - where the session is booked for the club and the session is coached. However you can also book to use the track for free outside of these club sessions.
Pros:
- You’re literally running on the track that Sir Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile - its pretty damn cool
- Has lots of bike racks so easy to cycle to if you don’t want to walk/run
- Has a spectator stand (that is sheltered)
- Is surrounded by other sports facilities (tennis, rugby, hockey pitches, ergs, gym, etc.) so good vibes all around
- Spinning bikes at the track for those who are injured or cross training - means you can still come to the session and enjoy the club atmosphere
- Toilets, changing rooms, water fountains all right by the track
